The cultural and artistic event “Voices That Cannot Be Silenced – Afghan Women” was successfully held at Rommen Scene in Oslo through the joint efforts of the Women's Justice Movement and AAB Norway. The event brought together members of the Afghan community, human rights advocates, artists, and supporters of Afghan women in an evening of solidarity, culture, and resistance.
The program aimed to amplify the voices of Afghan women, honor their resilience, and create a space where culture, art, literature, and community could come together in support of women's rights and human dignity. Through poetry, literature, music, personal narratives, and artistic expression, the event highlighted the experiences, struggles, and hopes of Afghan women living under oppression.
The success of the event was made possible by the dedication and contributions of many talented individuals. Zarine Lopez Mirzad served as Program Leader, Mariam Said and Hamideh Mirzad contributed through poetry recitations, Mitra Assi led the literary section, Edris Hamdard coordinated event logistics, Bazil Nicobin documented the event through videography, Soraia Khawari provided photography, and Samantha Jaoshan was responsible for decoration and stage design.
As one of the organizers, the Women's Justice Movement considers this event an important platform to raise awareness about the systematic oppression and gender apartheid imposed on women and girls in Afghanistan while also celebrating the courage and determination of Afghan women who continue to resist and advocate for justice, freedom, and equality.
Throughout the evening, participants emphasized the importance of preserving collective memory, supporting Afghan women human rights defenders, and strengthening international solidarity with the women of Afghanistan. The event also demonstrated the power of culture, literature, and art in keeping the voices of resistance alive and in building bridges between communities.
The Women's Justice Movement of Afghanistan extends its deepest gratitude to all contributors, volunteers, artists, and participants whose time, knowledge, and commitment made this event possible. Their collective efforts created a meaningful space for dialogue, reflection, and solidarity.
Together, we created a platform for culture, art, music, literature, and community—a space where the voices of Afghan women will neither be silenced nor forgotten.
