The Women’s Justice Movement marks April 24, the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, at a time when Afghanistan continues to suffer from a profound humanitarian, political, and human rights crisis, and women are being systematically excluded from all spheres of public life.
While multilateralism is founded on cooperation among nations to ensure peace, justice, and stability, we are witnessing that this principle has not been meaningfully or effectively applied in response to the situation in Afghanistan. Ignoring women’s rights and attempting to normalize the current conditions pose a serious threat to sustainable peace.
The Women’s Justice Movement stresses that no peace process can be legitimate or sustainable without the meaningful and equal participation of women. The exclusion of women from decision-making and political negotiations constitutes a violation of the fundamental principles of justice and equitable peace.
We call on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to adopt a responsible, human rights–based approach, to refrain from legitimizing systems that violate women’s rights, and to amplify the voices of Afghan women at all levels of decision-making.
We believe that genuine peace can only be achieved when justice, equality, and human dignity are guaranteed for all—especially women.
